Handmade in the mountains, folded for you

Yeti Momos — Gilgit-Baltistan

Handmade Himalayan dumplings,
folded fresh in Gilgit

A curated menu of mamtu and momos, hand-folded in view, using recipes rooted in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Gilgit-Baltistan's first dedicated momo house — every piece folded by hand, daily.

Our story

"The fold is not a technique. It is a memory."

In Gilgit-Baltistan, mamtu and momos have been folded in home kitchens and roadside stalls for generations. The recipes do not live in books; they travel in hands — a grandmother's pinch, a mother's pleat.

Yeti Momos was born from a simple belief: this craft deserves a proper home. We created Gilgit's first dedicated dumpling house so that locals and travellers alike can taste a recipe that is genuinely of this place — not borrowed from a trend, not a franchise, not a shortcut.

How we work

Three principles we refuse to compromise on

Folded by hand. Always.

Every momo and mamtu leaves our kitchen hand-formed. No machines, no pre-pressed wrappers, no shortcuts. You will see the hands at work — that is the point.

Rooted in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Our recipes come from the valleys of this region, not from a generic 'Asian food' playbook. The spices, the filling ratios, the fold styles — all carry a specific provenance.

A small menu done properly.

We serve a deliberately short menu so every dish is made with full attention. When something is not perfect that day, we do not serve it.

You will always see the fold happen

Our kitchen is open. The dough is rolled fresh each morning. Fillings are prepared in small batches throughout the day so every serving is made within hours.

We built the space this way deliberately. The theatre of hand-folding is the guarantee — when you can see it made, you know it is real.

  • Dough kneaded each morning from high-gluten flour

  • Fillings made in small batches — lamb, chicken, or walnut and apricot

  • Every wrapper rolled by hand, every pleat sealed to order

  • Steamed or oven-finished to order, served within minutes

What people say

I have eaten momos in Islamabad, in Lahore, in Rawalpindi. Nothing tasted like this. You can tell these come from somewhere real.

Zara K.

Traveller, passing through to Hunza

We brought the whole family — my parents, my kids. There is something honest about watching the cook fold each piece right in front of you.

Ahmed F.

Gilgit local, regular customer

The walnut and apricot momo was unexpected. We had three rounds. The flavour is entirely its own thing.
